A Year 2 Class Post

Animal adaptations in Science and textures in Art!

This week, our scientists have been learning about how animals adapt to their environment. The children created their own animal with adaptations to survive in a chosen habitat. The children showed their fantastic imaginations as well as applying their scientific learning.

In Art today, our artists continued to develop their drawing skills by practicing how to create different textures, such as fur, scales and spots.

We have started learning our pre cursive letters by practising the curly c. Remember to practise this at home, ‘whoosh in and curl around the caterpillar’. We would love to see any lovely handwriting practise that you do at home! We have also been re-capping how to count in 2’s and 10’s. We are practising how to count in 5’s and 3’s – any extra practise you would like to do at home would be really beneficial for your child.

We have had another successful book club. In Hawthorn we really enjoyed sharing James and the Giant Peach and a book of goodnight stories for rebel girls! In Oak class, a Pokemon book was shared Octopants! Thank you so much for helping your child to bring in books. Next week, we have Isabel, Grayson, Emilia and Adam C sharing their books in book club!
