This afternoon we were really lucky to welcome an author to our school. Our Year 6 pupils have already met Richard Mayers when he told them about his Spikez book at a visit to The Priory School last year. Today he came in to school to tell the pupils in Years 1 and 2 about a new book he is writing – ‘The Hedgehog’s Full Moon Party’ which is an illustrated book aimed at younger children. The children really enjoyed hearing the story and Year 2 asked him some interesting questions about being an author. He also gave them some top tips which will help with their story writing. Always write about what you know; look, listen and ask questions. He also said that a picture is often a good starting point for a story.
Thanks to Richard for a great afternoon. Hopefully our children will be inspired to write their own stories which we can enter for the 500 word story competition… let’s find our own budding Samuel Lucas authors!
