Year 2 had a very exciting day visiting Hitchin Girls’ School’s DT workshop to cut our axles needed for our DT project of making a vehicle.
It was such a special experience we had walking in the crispy weather and being in a secondary DT workshop where we got to learn about how to be safe in a DT workshop and wear safety goggles when cutting our axles with the saw using the correct technique.
When we returned, we started to construct our vehicles with our cardboard boxes we already prepared by flipping it inside out then looked at our designs to create our vehicle. We used paining, cutting, collaging tissue and card to create the body, windows, doors, lights, number plates and for some designers – a special ice cream/donut/burger top of their vehicle. To complete our project we will finish gluing the axles and wheels to our vehicles then evaluate our vehicles.
