16 children from Years 5 and 6 travelled to Knights Templar school in Baldock to compete in the NHSSP cross country competition against children from 17 schools from Baldock, Letchworth and Hitchin.
The year 5 teams had to run half a mile (one lap of the course) and the year 6 teams had to run a mile (two laps of the course).
The children were all well prepared through their effort, training and commitment to the running clubs and were excited about the event ahead.
On arrival the rules were explained and we were given a walk through of the course from start to finish and then it was time to race!
The year 5 girls went first, followed by year 5 boys and then the order was kept the same for the year 6 races.
All of our runners showed fantastic stamina, effort, determination and resilience and it was reflected in their final placings.
Year 5 boys team = 2nd place
Year 5 girls team = 4th place
Year 6 boys team = 13th place
Year 6 girls team = 6th place
A special mention to Frank (5th), Charlie (7th), Juliet (9th) and Elsa (10th) who all achieved top ten finishes.
We are very proud of all of you and hope it gives you the running bug!
