Last Week Hawthorn class found a suitcase in the classroom belonging to Harold Braithwaite. After exploring the contents of the suitcase and discussing what the different artefacts might be we decided that Harold Braithwaite must have lived in the Caribbean and travelled on board the Empire Windrush ship to search for a new job and home in England. We then went on to put ourselves into the shoes of the people that travelled on the Empire Windrush ship and think about how they must have felt on that life changing journey. We used these words to write our own poem.
