What an action-packed week it has been! On Monday, Mr Allan filmed our Leavers’ Show. Beech and Spruce have been practising their independent sketches based on memorable times at Samuel Lucas. Miss Shaw kindly choreographed a dance routine for the classes and Mrs Davies rehearsed the two classes with their singing.
Sports Day on Tuesday was extremely popular. Year 6 and Year 5 combined to have a really enjoyable morning. All the staff commented on the brilliant attitude and effort of all the competitors as they completed seven very varied activities before the final class relay race. A huge thank you must go, as always, to Mr Smith whose excellent organisation ensured the whole morning went smoothly. Well done, everyone for taking part and the effort you put in during the activities.
On Wednesday we had our second trip of the half term! The day started a little cloudy but this soon gave way to sunshine as we enjoyed the animals and exhibits at Whipsnade Zoo. Again, it was a treat to be with the children in a different environment as they showed their obvious pleasure at being there. Penguins, chimps, giraffes, hippos and rhinos were all extremely popular, as was the Butterfly House and Aquarium, where we enjoyed wandering in a natural, humid climate! We loved being able to share this experience with such well-behaved and keen children.
The year has come to an end. It has been disrupted but the children returned after lockdown with enthusiasm and determination: qualities which will serve them well for the future. We look forward to next Tuesday with mixed emotions but are happy in the knowledge that the children are ready for the next important step in their lives. We send each and every one our very best wishes!
