What a brilliant start to the year we have had. The children are doing really well and settling in beautifully!
Maths – We have had a wonderful first week of practicing our place value skills. We have used resources such as dienes, bead strings, part whole models, numicon and place value charts. We have been working hard to write numbers to 100 in both numerals and words.
Writing- We were introduced to our first writing text study ‘Charlie Cook’s favourite book’, we have revisited a range of writing skills such as using capital letters, using finger spaces and full stops. We challenged ourselves by using conjunctions and expanded noun phrases.
Computing – The children loved their first ever computing lesson in year 2. They logged on to purple mash and then did some super coding of planes taking off and landing! Please do give your child the opportunity to practice logging on to purple mash so that they can do this independently at school.
Book club- Today, we had our first book club today where two children are chosen to bring in and share their favourite book and why it is their favourite.
We hope your children are all enjoying reading their first year 2 reading book. Please encourage your child to read to and with you every day and on Fridays your child will get a sticker if they have 5 reading logs so remember to record each read! Enjoy!
We look forward to another fun week!
