A Year 5 Class Post

Making slime and testing acids and alkalis!

This term , year 5 scientists have been exploring properties and changes of materials! Last week we created our own material- slime! We discovered Slime is an interesting material because it is both a solid and a liquid as it uses household substances (contact lens solution and bicarbonate soda) to create a new material which is wet and slippery!

We were very lucky to also have Mr Goldring, HGS physics teacher, visit both classes to help us create a red cabbage indicator to test acids and alkali solutions such as lemon juice, vinegar and dishwashing liquid! We then created our own acid/alkali art on filter paper, we are excited to show you this experiment at outcome evening later this term!
