In English, Oak Class have been reading the book Monsters: An Owner’s Guide to help them learn about Explanation writing. Children have been looking at the features of an explanation text and will eventually write their own explanation.
The children have enjoyed seeing all of the different monsters in the book, so they thought it would be fun to design their own monsters which they will then use to write an explanation.
Here is my monster:
To prepare for our explanations, we wrote statements about our monsters. Statements are sentences which tell the reader a fact or idea about a topic. They must always end in punctuation, usually a full stop.
Why not ask your child to come up with some statements of their own about my monster?
