National School Sport Week 2021

National School Sport Week 2021

“National School Sport Week 2021 will celebrate the return of youth sport and its power to bring people back together with a week of school sports events held up and down the country. The theme of this year’s campaign is Together Again and after a year in which young people have missed out on so much and had their worlds turned upside down, sport and physical activity are playing an essential role in their recovery.” Youth Sport Trust 2021

Last week we have participated in National School Sport Week with a variety of visitors to school providing us with the opportunity to be active and try something new or different. With the theme of NSSW being ‘together again’ it has been wonderful to see the children outside in the fresh air, with smiles on their faces and enjoying the activities in front of them.

Monday 21st June

Rising Stars Multi-Sports and UPlay Sports kicked off the week with some trampolining and tennis sessions.

Tuesday 22nd June

Team Rubicon came into school and taught us all about scooting and skateboarding!

Wednesday 23rd June

Sydney Gregson from Saracens Women came in to teach years 2,3 and 4 some rugby skills.  Sydney also answered some questions about her experiences of representing England and showed the children one of her England shirts.

Thursday 24th June

We had a visit from Hitchin Rugby club for Years 1  and 6 who taught us a variety of rugby skills. Jay Livermore from the North Herts School Sports Partnership worked with Year 5 and 6 on their Dodgeball skills in the form of some intra-house matches.

Friday 25th June

We finished the week with a second visit from Uplay sports for another round of tennis sessions. Sadly the rain on Friday morning meant that the inflatable session with Rising Stars was cancelled, however we have managed to rearrange the session for this week. We signed off for the week with our Physical Activity Enrichment sessions in the afternoon.

Well done everyone and a big thank you to all the children and teachers for your effort and enthusiasm in a very busy week!

Mr. Smith
