A Year 5 Class Post

Our School Trip!

A late post, so it’ll be a short one.

Hatfield House

Well done to all the children for making the best of a strange situation and an extended delay to our departure from school last Thursday.

We enjoyed our picnic on the field before we left – so almost like Hatfield parkland, without the deer!

Once we arrived at Hatfield, the children enjoyed some fantastic live music as part of the D-Day celebrations that were taking place that day, were complimented in the house by the guides for their polite and calm behaviour and impressed us all with their curiosity and questions.

It was great seeing the Tudor palace and spaces where Queen Elizabeth I spent so much of her childhood, and also the amazing range of Tudor artefacts and other historic items of interest in Hatfield House itself.

This was the first time Year 5 have been on this trip, so it was new for us all – thanks to everyone involved for helping to make it a success!

More Outdoor Learning

We took our Maths outside as well this week to make the most of the space on the playground. We drew big grids and challenged each other to find the translations and new co-ordinates for our cone points. Fantastic team work from everyone and lots of peer support and problem-solving with our Maths.
