Physical Activity Enrichment

PE

The children have produced some excellent work in their PE lessons since the Easter break.

In reception we are working to develop our jumping skills.

In years 1 and 2 we have been improving our teambuilding skills through lessons that include teamwork, problem solving and creating strategies.

In years 3-6 we have been developing our cricket skills. Years 3 and 4 are still working their way through this unit as they have also started swimming for their second PE lesson of the week, whilst Years 5 and 6 are moving onto a unit of Rounders through to the half term break.

Sports fixtures

Twenty four Year 5 and 6 children took part in a friendly football festival at Whitehill school on Monday 26th April with Whitehill and Wilshere Dacre children. It was our first outing for school fixtures in over a year and it was great to see the children back representing the school and enjoying themselves playing sport. There are plans in place for similar events for other teams as long as it is safe to do so.

Physical Activity Enrichment

As part of our return to school for the summer term, we have introduced Physical Activity Enrichment on a Friday afternoon for thirty minutes for all children from Year 1 up to Year 6.

The aim is for children to experience and learn about a wide variety of ways in which they can be active and to acquire and develop new skills along the way. The activity that the class participate in lasts for three weeks before they move onto something new.

The response from the children has been fantastic and we have already had some excellent suggestions for future activities!

Well done everyone – keep up the good work!
