Reception Summer 1, week 6

What a lovely week we’ve had in reception this week.

The children have been really engaged in their learning about animals and their habitats. We have looked at animals from different climates and why they are suited to their habitat. The children have taken a particular interest in bugs and minibeasts. In their own learning time, they have made bug hotels and wormeries and been on minibeast hunts around the garden. the wet weather brought out some interesting little creatures.

In Phonics, we have been continuing with our Monster Phonics scheme and practising the difference between ‘th’, ‘v’ and ‘f’, as many of the children have been mixing these up in their writing.

In Maths, we have been practising doubling numbers to 6 and continuing to practise our number bonds to 10.

After the half term we have our school trip to Shepreth Wildlife Park on Tuesday 4th June. A reminder email will be going out about this on the Monday when we return.

The first week back we will focus our learning on animals and recounting our trip to Shepreth. We are very much looking forward to this trip and thank you to al the parents who have volunteered to support us on this trip.

Have a lovely, safe and enjoyable half term and we will see you all on Monday 3rd June.
