Sports Review!

We have had a very busy few weeks in PE and sport in school!

PE News

In reception we have been working hard on target throwing using nets, hoops and cones to aim for and discovering different ways of throwing. We have also been exploring different ways of moving.

In KS1 we have continued our work with our racket skills and progressed this week to hitting and aiming for targets.

In KS2 the children took part in their Tennis Intra-house competitions this week, playing doubles matches against children from different house groups.

Competitive Sport

Saturday 16th March

The year 5 and 6 girls football team finished their excellent season by participating in the end of season football rally at Wilshere Dacre. After topping their group with 2 wins and 2 draws we unfortunately lost 2-0 in the semi-final to William Ransom.

Tuesday 19th March

Our year 5 and 6 football A team played in the Championship play-off match against William Ransom after winning their league this season. In a thrilling end to end game that went to extra time we lost 3-2 in a very tight match.

Thursday 21st March

The B team finished their season with the end of season rally at Highover. After drawing their first match and winning the next two a late defeat in the final match against Our Lady meant we unfortunately didn’t qualify for the knockout stages.

Saturday 23rd March

Our A team finished their season with the end of season rally at Wilshere Dacre. We went through the group stage undefeated – winning two and drawing two but it unfortunately wasn’t enough to take us into the knockout stages.

Monday 25th March

Our A and B Netball teams participated in ‘Netfest’ at William Ransom school playing 10 matches against some local schools. We had a great morning of netball and met a superleague netballer who gave us some tips and advice about our skills.

Tuesday 26th March

Our A and B hockey teams competed in the NHSSP quicksticks hockey tournament at Hitchin Boys School. Our B team placed 10th after winning 2, drawing 2 and losing 3 games in the group stage they narrowly lost to Lordship Farm in their playoff match.

Our A team placed 1st and will now represent North Hertfordshire at the county finals in July! After winning 6 and drawing 1 game in the group stage, a 1-0 victory in the final against Purwell saw us crowned champions! I would like to thank Mrs.Wright and Mrs.Williams for their coaching and help in organising the use of Blueharts hockey club training facilities.

Well done to everyone for your hard work, enthusiasm and progress in PE and Sport this half term!
