School Sport
Football
The A team played Offley on Wednesday evening (5th February) in a league fixture winning 13-0. Player of the match went to Stanley in Year 6 for a fantastic headed goal and an excellent performance both in defence and on the wing. We face Whitehill on Tuesday (11th February) in our final league game of the season.
The B/C teams are participating in a three school festival next week (13th February) at Whitehill school and we have similar Year 3/4 and girls football festivals organised for after half term.
We also now know that both the A and girls teams will both face their William Ransom counterparts in the Wix cup finals which are to be played after half term.
Netball
The netball fixtures have been quiet both sides of the Christmas break but we restart our league fixtures with a match against Mary Exton after half term.
Sportshall Athletics
Our year 5 and 6 sports hall athletics team participated in the Hitchin heat of the NHSSP sports hall athletics competition at Hitchin Boys School (30th January). After competing in a variety of track and field events, it was announced that both the boys’ and girls teams had finished in 2nd place which means we will now take part
in the district finals in Letchworth after half term.
Speed Stacking
Our year 4 boys and girls speed stacking teams participated in the NHSSP speed stacking competition this week (4th February). They have been practicing very hard every Monday lunchtime and at home as well. We had a fantastic time competing in individual and team 3-3-3 and 3-6-3 stacks. The boys team finished in 2nd place and the girls team finished in 7th place. A special mention to Thomas and Libby who finished 3rd and 4th respectively in the individual competitions.
Cross Country
Our Year 5 and 6 boys and girls runners competed in the Hertfordshire cross country championships in St.Albans at the weekend (1st February). There were approximately 150 runners in each category and the children performed brilliantly. A special mention to Fred and Hannah (both Year 5) for finishing 7th and 9th in their respective categories!
Well done everyone for your hard work, dedication and commitment so far this half term, keep it up!
