A Year 2 Class Post

Summer 1 Week 2

As writers we have read the text ‘Tiddalick the frog.’ We used drama to re-tell the story and then have started designing our own characters for writing our own version of the story next week!

As mathematicians we have continued our fractions learning, this week focusing on recognising 1/4 and 1/3 of shapes. We used cubes to help us find fractions of amounts too.

As scientists we have started our new learning on plants. We used our observation skills to explore a range of seeds and then predict what they might grow into. We then planted our seeds and will measure their growth over the next few weeks.

As geographers we started our learning on weather and climate. We learnt what climate is and then used the atlases to help us find out the climates of different countries.

As digital learners we took inspiration from the artist Mondrian      to create our own art work.

On Friday we also thoroughly enjoyed participating in the multi-sports event! The children enjoyed a variety of activities such as scoring goals, obstacle courses and lots of different ball games!
