We have had a busy start to the summer term!
As artists, we are used a new medium called Charcoal to explore different tones and marks when creating weather art pieces. Today, we used our paintbrushes, rubbers and our fingers to use techniques such as smudging to create shadow and moody tones. We will be exploring collaging and printing later on in the term to create our own weather artwork.
In maths, we have started to learn about fractions and have practised finding halves, quarters and thirds of a given number. We have enjoyed making equal parts in our fractions and doing it practically using cubes, mats and solving real life maths problems.
We are exploring plants and their life cycles in Science this term, we observed different seeds and had to guess from a selection of flowers which seed belonged to the flower which we found fun!
We have learnt the different parts of a bulb and will be investigating what plants need to grow.
As historians, we have started learning about The Victorians, so far they have loved learning about key events, inventions and changes in this busy time period! They particularly were shocked and loved learning about how children to go to work, not school, during the times and we had fantastic class discussions about how they would feel.
