A team of cricketers from Year 5 and 6 travelled to Letchworth Cricket Club to represent the school in the NHSSP cricket tournament.
Each school was put into a Pool of four teams with the group winner progressing to the semi finals.
The results of the group stage were as follows:
SL v Grange – Won by 109 runs
SL v Pixmore – Won by 41 runs
Sl v St.Marys (2) – Won by 121 runs
That meant the team went through as group winners to face St.Mary’s (1) in the semi final. We managed to progress in a very tight match winning by 26 runs.
This meant a final against Wilshere Dacre who had also made it through undefeated. A very close and tense final came down to us needing 5 runs from 5 balls to win. A single run meant we needed 4 runs from 4 balls. We then didn’t score for the next two balls due to some very good bowling from Wilshere Dacre. With two balls remaining Thomas stepped forward and hit a fantastic drive over the boundary for 6, putting us two runs ahead. The final ball was bowled without score which meant the team had won the final by two runs!
Well done to all involved, we now represent North Herts at the County Finals in two weeks time!
