This half term as Historians, Year 4 have been learning about Viking life. One key aspect the children discovered during their lessons was that Vikings were explorers as well as warriors. Viking long ships were an essential part of the Vikings’ ability to travel and explore. They were designed perfectly for raiding and as such was one of the main reasons the Vikings first came to England. The children researched the role of the Viking longship and creating informative posters and leaflets about how they were made and what they were used for.
The children then created their own representations of Viking long ships by making models. The representations that have been brought in have been amazing. It is so wonderful to see the creativity involved in the models. We even had a gingerbread one!
