Weekly Sports Review

The end of another busy week for sport in school!

The week began with an excellent performance from the Netball team, winning a very even game 7-6 against Wilshere Dacre. Scorers for Samuel Lucas were Jemima (5), Hannah T and Hannah M. The girls have been out at break and lunchtimes practicing their shooting and it is really starting to pay off in matches now.

We made the short journey to Whitehill on Wednesday for an A team Wix Cup 1st round fixture and a B team friendly. The A team won 3-2 and will face William Ransom in the quarter final, goals from Jamie (2) and Frank (1) were enough to secure victory in a very tough match. Player of the match went to team captain Jamie for an excellent performance upfront.

In their first match together this season the B team found themselves trailing 2-0 at half time despite playing some excellent football in the first half. A brilliant team effort in the second half with a goal from Naresh and an unfortunate own goal in the last minute saw us claim a 2-2 draw. Player of the match went to Naresh for a very determined performance in the second half.

We finished the week with the girls football team travelling to Our Lady for their Wix Cup 1st round fixture. Despite a battling performance and some hard luck in front of goal the girls eventually lost 4-0. Player of the match went to team captain Lily who didn’t stop running and competing until the final whistle. We wish Our Lady the best of luck in their next round match.

Well done to all involved, you have been a credit to our school this week and I am really looking forward to the district football tournaments and the tag rugby festival next week!
