Weekly Sports Review

Years 1 and 2 have continued their excellent work on their throwing and catching skills this week using a variety of equipment. In Years 3-6 we have been developing our football skills in preparation for our house matches in two weeks time.

On Wednesday the girls football team went to Wilshere Dacre to play in the Hitchin schools district tournament and they were magnificent! They topped the group beating Whitehill 1-0 (Hannah M), drawing 1-1 with Our Lady (Elsa S)and winning 1-0 against Purwell (Juliet). In the semi final we beat Breachwood Green 1-0 with team captain Lily scoring with the last kick of the game.  We battled so well in the final against William Ransom and were desperately unlucky to concede in the last minute of extra time eventually losing 1-0. The girls should be incredibly proud of their achievement especially as they have only been playing together as a team for a month or so!

On Thursday we took two teams of Year 5 and 6 children to the NHSSP Tag Rugby festival at Letchworth Rugby Club. We had some very enjoyable games against Our Lady, St.Johns, Garden City Academy, Grange Academy and St.Marys. Both of our teams played some excellent Rugby and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Afterschool it was the turn of the A team to make the short journey to Wilshere Dacre to play in the Hitchin schools district tournament. The team played brilliantly in what was a very tough group winning 7-0 against Oughton, drawing 1-1 with Wilshere Dacre and narrowly losing 1-0 to both William Ransom and Highover. The standard at the tournament was very high and the boys gave everything they had and should be very proud of their efforts.

Well done to everyone involved this week, you have been a credit to our school – not just in terms of performance but your enthusiasm, attitude, effort and commitment to sport has been a joy to watch and be a part of.
