Weekly Sports Review!

We have had a very busy week back for PE and Sport in school!

In Early Years we are focusing on handling, bouncing and catching large balls as well as working on our fundamental movements.

In Years 1 and 2 we are focusing on Racket skills this half term with our aim this week to concentrate on balancing, flicking and catching of a beanbag. We have looked at ways we can challenge ourselves to really test our skills.

In Key stage 2 this half term we will be looking at Tennis with Years 3 and 4 working on racket control and juggling this week and Years 5 and 6 working on our ready position and forehand ground stroke.

All of the children in KS2 will participate in house matches in Tennis before the Easter Break.

In competitive sport this week our Boys football A team beat Oughton 6-0 in their final league game of the season with goals from Noah (2), Josh, Jim, Jamie and an OG. Player of the match went to Noah for an excellent performance on the left wing.

Our girls A and B netballers both lost in fixtures at home to St.Andrews but showed a great resilience and determination to keep playing and competing.

The boys Sportshall athletics team travelled to Highfield on Tuesday night to compete in the North Herts district finals after qualifying through their heat before half term. The standard was very high and I am incredibly proud of the performance the boys put in which resulted in a 4th place finish and was topped off by winning the 4 x 1 relay in the last event of the evening.

We have a very hectic week in store next week with Year 3/4 girls football tournament at Whitehill, A and B Netball vs Whitehill, A and C team football vs Wilshere Dacre and Girls and B team football vs Highover!
