Another busy week for sport in school this week with all clubs and the daily mile taking place as usual with each class showing a brilliant attitude and determination towards their running.
Monday saw our Netball team play their first match of the season at home to Offley Endowed Primary. The girls played really well and were unlucky to be on the end of a 7-2 score line with Holly and Hannah scoring for Samuel Lucas. They play again tomorrow (Monday 1st October) against Wilshere Dacre.
On Wednesday the ‘A’ football team continued their season with a 0-0 draw at home to St.Ippolytts who had the better of the first half. Samuel Lucas were much stronger in the second half and hit the bar and post but couldn’t quite find the winning goal. Player of the match went to Frank for his excellent work rate and effort during the game.
Both the A and B teams play away to Whitehill this coming Wednesday (3rd October) with the A team fixture being a Wix Cup match.
On the same evening the girls football team played their first ever match together! They have trained really well leading up to it and although they took the lead through an excellent strike from Lily, the score finished 2-1 to St.Ippolytts. Player of the match went to Elsa who had a fantastic attitude and showed some fantastic dribbling skills.
The week finished with the girls football team attending the early season rally at Wilshere Dacre on Saturday morning and they were simply fantastic! They played as a team, showed a good understanding of their positions on the pitch and displayed a great attitude and sportsmanship that made us proud to have them represent Samuel Lucas. There were 2 wins against Purwell (1-0) and Our Lady (2-0), 0-0 draws with William Ransom, Whitehill and Breachwood Green and a 1-0 loss to Highover.
Friday will see the girls team compete in their first ever Wix cup match together away to Our Lady school.
Well done to all involved, can’t wait to do it all again next week!
