This week, it finally cooled off upstairs. The children did a great job of taking care of themselves in the heat and keeping themselves hydrated. Both classes have been complimented on how well they are taking of their classrooms.
We have started our focus for the term on South America. We have started learning the names of the 14 countries in South America in geography and comparing these countries to countries in Europe. In History, we have begun our exploration of Mayan life and the history of South America. As historians, we thought about what evidence we have of Mayan life. We evaluatedĀ different types of evidence, explaining how they might help us and also identifying what problems we might have with them.
We hope the children are enjoying the challenges of year 5 and are beginning to feel like they’re really settling in.
