A Year 5 Class Post

Well Done to Our New Year 5s!

John Henry

“The man with the heart to big and too small.”

Everyone in Year 5 has done a brilliant job of settling in to life upstairs.

We started the year with some Roman numerals in Maths and stretching our number awareness manipulating numbers with up to 7 digits.

In English we have been exploring how and why traditional tales are still popular today, and how writers make them interesting and relevant to older children. Ask your children about Lorena Ochoa, world champion golfer and Sojourner Truth, anti-slavery campaigner. They have also been working on their own stories, finding out and writing about John Henry, railroad worker.

We are looking forward to working with all the children this year, especially after getting off to such a great start.
