We had a wonderful day on Thursday; World Book Day proved a big hit with everyone!
Year 6 enjoyed watching the video of “The Masked Reader” where 14 members of staff (fully masked!) read extracts from various books.
The quiz which followed tested the children’s knowledge of titles, authors and indeed……. teachers!
In year 6, we based our written piece for the day on our class reader: The Children of the King by Sonya Hartnett. In pairs, we wrote a persuasive monologue about accepting an evacuee into the household.
We created bookmarks and alternative covers for our favourite books and in the afternoon we based our activity on the whole school book: If the World Were 100 People. We used Google translate to identify how “Hello” is spoken in various countries and used the results to create a pleasing display reflecting on kindness and positivity.
A number of children brought in modified bananas which were a lot of fun!
We would like to thank Mrs Hughes for organising such an enjoyable day.
