On Saturday evening, 21 Year 5 and 6 children from Samuel Lucas sang alongside members of other school choirs in a Massed Children’s choir in ‘A Sea Symphony’ concert at St Albans Cathedral. They sang as part of the choir performing Three Seaside Postcards by Jonathan Dove alongside the St Albans Symphony orchestra. They attended two rehearsals in preparation for the concert, as well as spending time in school learning the piece and their commitment really paid off in an amazing performance.
The children said what a fantastic opportunity it was to sing with a 75 piece symphony orchestra in such a magnificent building and we could tell from the excitement and their concentration that our 21 singers totally loved the performance too.
I would like to extend my thanks to Mrs Footer who taught the children the music and for her unfailing enthusiasm and hard work in enabling the children to have this wonderful experience. Thanks to Rufus Frowde who conducted the concert; he invited the children from Samuel Lucas to take part and trained them so patiently and enthusiastically. Thanks also to all the parents involved who supported the children in attending the rehearsals and concert. It was certainly an experience that will stay with us all for a very long time.
