This week in Year 1, we have begun learning about Christopher Columbus, some of the children have been creating the ships he travelled on and looking at maps to where he travelled. In maths, we have been learning to add 2 numbers and solve addition word problems using part-whole models as support, also writing our number sentences. On Friday, we had our Remembrance assembly and learnt why it’s important to be respectful. In science, we continued learning about Autumn and looking at different animals that hibernate. In art, we looked at the art of Jackson Pollock and developed our brush control to recreate his art. In computing, we have been collecting data and using Purple Mash to create graphs.
