This week in Year 1, we have begun our new topic of the continents and the oceans, which the children have been learning songs to help them remember them, this week we focused on Antarctica. In science, we have begun classifying animals, next week we will begin looking at mammals, reptiles, fish, amphibians and birds. In our writing, we have been looking at the Meerkat Mail book, we wrote our own sentences using conjunctions (and, but, because). In maths, we have been subtracting by counting back on a number line and finding the difference between numbers. In art, we have been sketching and using collage to recreate art by Rosa Bonheur. Friday lunchtime, it was Mr Smith’s Friday party on the Year 1 playground.
