We have been amazing story writers this week. Every child has written their version of the Gingerbread Man creating their own characters including a villain! To get to this point the children have spent the past 3 weeks writing about setting and characters using adjectives and conjunctions to make their writing better. Parents will get the opportunity to see their child’s writing next Thursday at the Year 1 book look. We think you will be very impressed.
Also this week Mrs Kinchin Smith visited Year 1 to talk about Hanukkah. She retold the story of Hanukkah and taught the children how to play the dreidel game. We had lots of fun and have been continuing to play it in our Explore More time. We have also been making and drawing menorah’s, star of David’s and other things related to the Hanukkah story.
On Thursday afternoon we had our craftanoon. The children were put into their house teams and each house had creative activities that they had planned. The children had a brilliant afternoon and have enjoyed looked at the displays and decorations that have gone up around the school.
In PSHE this week we have talked about bullying and what bullying is. We have watched a story about being unkind and have talked about the difference between bullying and being unkind. We have also explored how others might feel when we are unkind to them.
