English
We are continuing to develop our precursive letter formation and sentence structure. Year 1 will be learning about information books, writing contemporary stories, and instructions.
Maths
Year 1 are continuing to build upon their addition and subtraction skills. In geometry, we will be looking at shape, length and height. We will also start finding fractions of shapes and quantities.
Science
In Science we are learning about materials and their properties. We will be applying this knowledge to our D&T topic where we will be designing and building our own toy cars.
Topic
Our topic this term is ‘Out of the Toy Box’. We will be looking at toys from today and comparing them to toys from the past, looking back to the Victorian era. We will be developing questioning skills by asking volunteers to explain what toys they played with when they were growing up. We will also be using our investigative skills to decide which era various toys came from.
Parents are invited to attend our Spring Term Outcome on Tuesday 28th March 2017 from 9.00am to 10.30am.
RE
We are exploring the different groups that people belong to (families, clubs, and faiths) and what makes those groups special.
PE
In PE we are discovering how to bounce, jump and land safely using apparatus. We will also develop our gymnastic skills by exploring various ways of balancing using different parts of our bodies.
