This summer we will be focusing on our History skills finding out about Great and Ghastly Events throughout History. As part of our learning, History will cross the curriculum into English, Maths, Science, Geography, Art & D&T.
In History, we will study significant events and people in Britainâs past as well as events around the rest of the world. The children will explore a range of sources of evidence that will help us find out more about Ancient Egypt, The Great Fire of London, World War II and the sinking of the Titanic.
In English, we will start the term by writing and performing poetry. Then we will be writing an explanation text using the book âMonsters: An Ownerâs Guideâ. Children will create their own monster and write an ownerâs guide explaining how it works. They will also write their own version of a traditional tale in the form of myths and legends, write a reports following research from History and write poems to build their vocabulary.
In Computing, we will continue using Scratch to further develop and design a game using coding and debugging.
In Art, we will be taking inspiration from the greats (classic and modern) to master various techniques including drawing, printing, collage, painting and sculpture.
In Science we will be observing and describing how seeds and bulbs grow into mature plants. We will also find out and describe what plants need to grow and stay healthy.
In RE, we will be looking at important people in the lives of the children and religious group as well as questions about aspects of life that may have difficult answers. In PE, we will be learning team games and applying skills learnt.
We look forward to an exciting and full term ahead!
