We have begun to explore different stitch types in preparation for our upcoming pencil case project. The children looked at three different types of stitch- running stitch, back stitch and blanket stitch. We are super proud of the children’s resilience when faced with the challenge of sewing. Many children solved problems they encountered and produce some excellent sewing!
In Science, we have been busy investigating friction. We have looked at how different surfaces impact the way in which cars move. We had great fun investigating the different surfaces and at what height the car would roll down the slope. We found that sandpaper was the best surface but we all agreed it wouldn’t make the best slide!
We also looked at how much force we would need to pull our shoes up a ramp. We looked at the differences in sizes and how much force smaller sized shoe groups used in comparison to the larger sizes.
In History, we have been continuing to explore the Stone Age. The children looked at one of the main ways of recording that was used- cave paintings. The children then used pictures to recreate their own versions of the Cave Art. Some of it is 39000 years old!
