Our Learning > Our Classes

A Year 4 Class Post

Year 4 Spring 1 Week 3

This week as writers, we have finished reading the text ‘The Lost Thing’. We then developed our persuasive writing skills to try and convince the main character to return the Lost Thing to the beach where he found it. We then used our computing skills to publish these as emails.

As mathematicians, we have used our times table knowledge to help us divide 2 and 3 digit numbers by a 1 digit number (e.g. 42 ÷ 2, 628 ÷ 2). We have also learnt about remainders when dividing.

As scientists, we explored our egg experiment from last week. We discovered that milk and water were the best drinks for our teeth, whereas the sugary and acidic drinks stain and damage teeth.

As artists, we have been developing our understanding of still life. We started using our painting skills to begin the process of creating our very own still life collages.

As historians, we continued learning about the Anglo Saxons by learning about the archaeological site of Sutton Hoo. We explored a range of artefacts that were found at the excavation and tried to determine who they may have belonged to.
