Our Learning > Our Classes

A Year 4 Class Post

Year 4 Summer 1 Week 6

This week as writers, we have planned, written and performed our own rhyming food poems!

As mathematicians, we have finished our learning on decimals and started our new learning on time. We learnt about how many days in a month, months in a year, seconds in a minute, hours in a day and completed a treasure hunt outside (as part of outdoor learning week) to test this knowledge.

As historians, we explored ancient Egyptian burials and beliefs. We had children become ‘mummies’ and we learnt how to perform the process of embalming on them, remembering to remove the correct organs and place them in the right canopic jars. We then created a sarcophagus and wrote the instructions for embalming inside them.

As artists, we held an exhibition of all our food sculptures. We celebrated all our hard work and gave critique to other people about how well they used texture, colour and shape.
