A Year 4 Class Post

Year 4 Summer 2 Week 3

This week as writers, we have been exploring the text ‘Kai and the Monkey King’. We used our predicting skills to work out what might happen in the story as well as using pictures from the book to write sentences with fronted adverbials.

As mathematicians, we have been learning about shape. We used angle eaters to help us find acute or obtuse angles in shapes, as well as learning to identify different types of triangles and quadrilaterals.

As scientists, we have used our knowledge of evaporation and condensation to help us explore the water cycle. We set up an experiment where we put hot water in a jar and ice cubes on a plate on top of it. We then managed to create our own mini water cycle in a jar!

As designers, we started our topic where we will be designing and making night lights for a young child. We explored a range of night light products, discovering the different features they have, as well as how they are powered.

As geographers, we went on a fieldtrip to conduct a transport survey to explore what types of transport are most common in our local area. We created tally charts and then turned our data in bar charts.
