First of all I would like to say a big thank you to you all for the warm welcome I have received at Samuel Lucas, Year 5 and I have made a fantastic start to new school year in the autumn term!
In English, we are practising our writing skills by writing recounts and explanation texts. In Maths we started the year with a week of practical problem solving and reasoning. We are focussing on number and place value this term and developing this through more problem solving activities with children being able to explain the approach they have used to solve the problems.
In Science and Geography we are exploring our world and looking at Earth and space. In Computing, we will be game developers and create our own games. The children will use the programme scratch to create their own characters and focus on algorithms.
In RE we will learn about how we can build positive relationships by learning more about Christianity and Judaism and looking at the links between them.
In PE we will be focussing on gymnastics and team building games.
