The start of the autumn term has already been extremely busy and I have been very impressed by the children’s commitment during the past few weeks.
We are extremely fortunate this year to be joined by Mrs Foster who is in her final year as a trainee teacher.
In English we have studied, written and performed poetry and researched a number of historical figures from World War Two for our biography unit of work. We shall be exploring a variety of fiction genres and writing a science-based report later in the term.
Maths will provide us the opportunity to consolidate existing skills and learn new ones. Our ethos is to help each other, ask questions and remember to have an open mindset. We learn from our mistakes and the children are encouraged to challenge themselves when presented with a choice. Home learning is often set on the MyMaths website although written work is also provided.
Mrs Sewell takes the class for science on a Monday morning. Our topics this term are “Light” and “Animals including humans.”
Our World War Two topic will provide many opportunities for historical and geographical research in addition to DT activities. A wealth of computing opportunities will be provided from communicating the importance of e-safety to cross-curricular presentations and coding.
In October we will be holding our annual Book Week for our Exhibition, where a wealth of learning from all areas is evident.
Our gym and dance skills will be developed in PE and Mrs Footer will, as usual, encourage marvellous work in music lessons as well as coordinate our Harvest festival.
