On Tuesday 13th June we welcomed Miss Rainbow from Hitchin Boys’ School to Samuel Lucas.
She introduced us to the history, geography, philosophy and evolution of Dreamcatchers and brought hoops which had been started by the boys in Year Seven. We were then joined by Mrs Cooper from the Boys’ School.
The whole of Year Six then worked in rotating groups to add to the designs, selecting materials and wool from a wide selection. As they worked, the children were encouraged to think carefully about the colours and textures and how they would contribute to the developing piece.
Miss Rainbow will continue the project with yet another junior school with the intention of displaying them at Hitchin Boys’ School in September.
What a great morning we had, developing so many skills and contributing to a multi-school project!
