Year 6 – Making the most of outdoors

Today we enjoyed “Walking on sunshine” as we entered assembly. What a treat the weather has been this week, we really hope that this lovely weather continues for a lovely half term. We have seized the opportunity to have some outdoor learning opportunities.

History and Drama

Yesterday, we worked in our house groups across year 6 to act out a Spring Greek Myth linked to our learning of Ancient Greece in History. It was a fantastic opportunity to develop our drama skills.  We look forward to putting these on display in our gallery.

I really liked working together and taking photos of our freeze-frames.” Alexandra.

“I like how Beech and Spruce got to mix together and share each other’s ideas to make a good freeze frame. ”  Kelita.

” I liked getting in our house groups and exploring different scenes.” Philippa.

Maths

In Maths this week, we have been converting between fractions, percentages and decimals, today we used our skills in Active Maths, where we competed in our house teams to investigate these relationships.

“I really enjoyed doing Maths whilst running around with our houses.” Eliza.

Art

This afternoon, many year 6 pupils have attended the Sports-hall Athletics competition.  The rest of year 6 have had the opportunity to work together in an Art afternoon bringing together all of the elements of our “Brave colour” topic. The work is not yet complete but we are so pleased with the results so far.

” I have enjoyed the painting this afternoon, I really like Art.” Joely.

” I have enjoyed working across the two classrooms in Art this afternoon, it was nice to have a choice of tasks.” George.
