Once again, Year 6 have shown wonderful application and effort in school. The pictures attached are from our RE lessons on Thursday. In the Buddhist tradition, mandalas are created in a painstaking way over a period of time only to be destroyed after completion to represent the impermanence of life. We took advantage of the lovely weather and created our own from natural materials. The atmosphere was so lovely and the designs were highly imaginative.
In science, we used laptops to research our favourite animal and classify it according to Linnaeus’s system of Taxonomy. The home learning submitted about him has been fantastic, by the way. We have enjoyed seeing the various PowerPoints, videos and written work.
PE with Mr Smith has seen the children enjoying tag rugby and today we have all visited our new library to borrow a book. Please have a look at home for any books which may be outstanding from last year, thanks.
In English, we have been practising the use of direct speech and, while everyone has improved, there is still scope for us to revisit this regularly before we start our narrative work later in the term.
In maths, we are following the White Rose scheme, as well as having specific fluency or arithmetic sessions on a Thursday. The children are showing great effort.
Although it seems extremely early, Christmas cards are well underway and we look forward to sharing these with you shortly!
