In RE this week, we have been continuing our studies on Buddhism. We have learned about Prince Siddharta’s journey to becoming the Buddha, the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path. On Tuesday, we took advantage of the lovely afternoon and created our own natural mandalas.
In Buddhism, mandalas are pieces of intricate art which take are created over a long period of time only to be carefully and respectfully destroyed. This is by way of recognising that all things in life are impermanent and that everything changes.
Both classes worked in chosen groups to collect and arrange natural materials into an imaginative and meaningful design which was later returned to its natural state.
