Year 6: Spiderwick complete!

Here we are at the end of the first half term!

It was lovely to be able to meet you in person at our Parents’ Evenings this week; many thanks for your attendance and positive comments.

This week has seen us perfecting and completing our Spiderwick Creature reports and explanation guides on how to care for each creature. We have been so impressed by the children’s commitment to using a wide range of punctuation to complement their imaginative ideas and powerful vocabulary. The results are wonderful: printed from the laptops and accompanied by their own illustrations.

Our science topic has come to an end and we have been using our scientific skills to classify flowering and non-flowering plants, together with a selection of invertebrates. We refreshed our knowledge of Venn Diagrams too, using playground leaves.

As mathematicians, we have developed our understanding of long division, as well as factors, prime numbers and BODMAS. After half term, we start our unit of work on fractions.

Our Greek lessons have seen us applying our knowledge to consider the Greek Legacy. We rated those aspects still important in today’s society and gave reasons for our choices. The Aristotle home learning task has produced some amazing results: many thanks!

Our PE sessions have rounded off with our Tag Rugby in-class House Tournaments. It has been great that the field has been dry all half term!

Here’s wishing everyone a happy and healthy half term.
