A Year 6 Class Post

Year 6 Taxonomists!

Another great week draws to a close. As scientists, we have studied the work of Carl Linnaeus and used laptops to research and present our chosen piece. He founded the system of taxonomy which we still use today and the children produced some great slides categorising their chosen animal.

In maths, we took to the playground to order our own random numbers from 1 to 10,000,000; a feat accomplished successfully due to fantastic teamwork and organisational skills.

We have been consolidating our knowledge of the conventions of speech, through careful study of our class reader: The Boy at The Back of the Class. Informal language to show character was used very effectively: “We dun real gud up ‘ere in year six!”

We have created our own board game in RE based on the Eightfold Path in Buddhism. Again, the children worked brilliantly in pairs and produced great quality games which we are looking forward to playing next week.

Our first music lessons with Mr Frowde were very impressive and we have been developing our football skills in PE.

Thank you to the people who attended our welcome evening on Thursday; we hope you found it informative.

Have an enjoyable Bank Holiday weekend.
