We have come to the end of our first half term. It has been extremely successful and we are delighted by the attitude of the children and the wonderful learning which has taken place in all subjects.
This week, we have completed our amazing writing about our own Spiderwick creature. We cannot wait to share our final pieces with you after half term as they will be accompanied by detailed multi-media artwork of our creatures. It is always so worthwhile to try to combine themes across subjects and we are especially proud of our efforts. The work will be displayed for all to see after half term.
The children have been incredibly resilient in maths, tackling long division. We have taught relevant strategies, and the children are deciding which method is the most efficient for them as individuals. The revision books we have supplied are extremely useful in consolidating the learning from the classroom.
As geographers, we have studied the origins and route of the transcontinental railway in North America, comparing political and topographical maps in the process.
Friday has seen the culmination of our basketball sessions, with our class inter-house mini-tournaments and in RE we have reflected on our Buddhist studies over the past few weeks.
On Thursday, Zac (a visitor to the school) delivered the first of four planned sessions to both classes. He explored breathing techniques to be used as a way of grounding and calming ourselves when things start to become a little overwhelming. These skills will be reinforced by us throughout the year as a means of keeping everything in perspective in the months ahead.
We hope you have a relaxing and happy half term.
