Dear Parents,
I hope you all enjoyed the Easter break and now the lovely weather we are having. Can I remind you to please send your child into school with a summer hat clearly labelled with their name; also ensure your child has a water bottle with them each day. Water bottles are available to buy from the school office and we also have a limited stock of Samuel Lucas red school caps for sale. Please can you bring the correct change when purchasing items from the office.
Environmental Area
The children have been busy planting seeds in the environmental area next to the pond. Please supervise your children before and after school whilst on the school grounds and do not allow them to enter this are looking forward to seeing the finished results!
EYFS
Just a reminder, as mentioned in the last newsletter, if you have something that you would like to say specifically about our Early Years outside area then we would love to hear it! Please could you send any comments into school through the school office, either hand written or via email admin@samlucas.herts.sch.uk for the attention of Mrs Elliott, Lilac class. All responses to be in by Monday 23rd April please.
Walk to School Week
It is Walk to School Week starting on 21 May 2018. We would like to encourage our parents and children to be active and use this opportunity to walk to school.
Caudwell Children Charity
On Monday 30 April, in line with the Samuel Lucas keeping fit and healthy campaign, we will be taking part in a world record attempt by joining Sid Sloane from CBeebies via video link and thousands of children throughout the UK, with the ‘Copy Sid’ song, to promote keeping children healthy and active! This initiative has been set up by the Children’s Activities Association as part of their activities week.
The event is supported by Caudwell Children charity. This charity is dedicated to changing the lives of disabled children by providing practical and emotional support and since 2000 has provided services worth over £39 million to over 25,000 children with over 600 different medical conditions.
In addition to the world record attempt, we would like to raise some money for Caudwell Children and invite the children to come into school the following day on Tuesday 1 May, wearing something purple or wear a purple accessory (purple is the charity theme colour). Please note this is not a non-uniform day but children may swap an item of their school uniform in place of wearing something purple and bring a minimum £1 donation into school for the charity. We may even be lucky enough to receive a visit by Sid Sloane himself!
