As part of a whole school drive to encourage and engage pupils in reading across the curriculum we are working on a reading project called ‘Dare to be Different – Celebrating Diversity’. Each class will be reading fiction and non-fiction books where inspiring tales of people, animals and characters show outstanding strength, courage and diversity to achieve great things.
To celebrate this theme we would like pupils to come to school on World Book Day, on Thursday 7th March either ‘Daring to be Different’ or as a person or character from a book who ‘dares to be different’ e.g. bright clothes, back to front clothes, odd socks/shoes etc or Elmer, Emmiline Pankhurst, King George VI.
If you would like any guidance on costumes/dress code please see Miss Gibson (Year 5 class teacher).
Alongside our reading project and World Book Day, we are very excited to be welcoming author and illustrator Alex T Smith to inspire and work with our pupils and meet and greet pupils. Alex will be visiting us on Tuesday 5th March.
Finally, we would like to share our fantastic reading project, linked to Art and DT, with you on Friday 22nd March from 3.15pm to 5pm.
We hope that you can join us in a celebration of our learning and talents!
